Congrats to the Doc!

We have spent the last week moving our Dental office to a new building.  It's big and beautiful, and filled with lots of new equipment.  Monday is the first day seeing patients there so we are surprising the Doc with cake and a card to celebrate!

I chose a Karen Burniston HousePivot Panel pop up design for the card. For the front I combined words from Karen's Word Set 1 Greetings  and Word Set 2 Birthday.  I die cut and glued together 5 layers of each word, dabbed them with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed them with Ranger Ultra Thick Embossing Powder. I used a Hero Arts, Wagner Heat Embossing Tool to heat the powder.  This heating tool gets REALLY HOT, so I recommend using tweezers or something similar to hold the paper to protect your fingers.  To finish the front, I added two borders from Karen's Border Blend Party set.

Now to the inside!   If you're like me, assembly instructions are a necessity, and Karen has awesome videos on her website, KarenBurniston.com.

My decorative paper panels were cut using Crosshatch Rectangles. I absolutely love her crosshatch dies. You can see the crosshatch design around the edges of the paper.  There are circles, squares, and ovals also.

The HousePivot Panel is easy to fold and adhere into the card. Again, the video helps. I went ahead and glued the panel in before I decorated it. It wasn't hard at all to decorate afterward.  I cut decorative papers for the houses and used a White Gel Pen in the stenciling feature she put in the door dies to add door knobs and windows. The grassy edge is from the Natures Edges  die set.  The trees are part of the House Pivot Panel set, which is so nice!

I used tape runner on the paper panels, but for the rest of the project I used Lineco Adhesive Glue in a

Fine Tip Glue Bottle.  Karen carries the glue and bottles, but has added the 18 Gauge Bottle Tip, which is absolutely fantastic!

The sentiment is from a set by Simon Says Stamps. I used my Mini MISTI Stamping Tool, which I can't stamp without(why would I), and Altenew Obsidian Ink. This black pigment ink leaves an incredibly clean image. I cut fishtails on the sentiment banner and used  dimensional adhesive to pop it up.

I added a few enamel dots from Gina Marie Designs on the card front and on the inside.  I cut another Crosshatch Rectangle in off white for the back of the card, so we would have a place to write a few words.

I've listed some other supplies that I used below.

EK Success Scissors.
ScorePal 12x12 Scoring Tool
Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
Tonic Tim Holtz Trimmer
Cricut Portable Trimmer

I always encourage my paper crafting friends to support local shops, so if you are in the area and can visit Scrapp'n Savvy you'll find Karen'right nows dies there.
If you can't find her products locally, I've used affiliate links whenever possible.

I need to mention her collaboration with Pear Blossom Press!  They worked together to come up with some pretty amazing projects using Karen's card designs and Pear Blossom Press's lights.  Check out her blog, KarenBurniston.typepad.com to see all the fun stuff they've made!

If you order from either Karen's website or Pear Blossom Press prior to Nov 2, 2019, and use the code POPANDLIGHT, you'll receive 15% off of your purchase.

Quarterly Sampler at Scrapp'n Savvy is November 1-2, 2019. Its an opportunity to see and sign up for the upcoming class projects, meet the instructors, and shop with a 15% discount while you're there. The discount can not be used on the Silhouette Cameo or Copic Markers. There might be other exclusions that I don't know of. Contact the shop if you'd like to attend so Karrie can save a seat for you.

Take care and happy shopping!
